The Songs You Need This Week

Happy Sunday, my lovely people - I hope that everyone reading this is safe, warm, and doing the best they can to keep on keepin on <3 I wanted to do a lil post of the songs that have really been getting me through the past few weeks of the new school semester & two part-time jobs (aaaa). I can't wait until this snowy winter is behind us; for now, here's the good stuff.

WHITE REAPER - only a shadow

The first time I heard this song, I instantly fell in love with the tone of the opening guitar riff and the eeriness of the lyrics altogether. This is one of those songs that can easily be screamed at the top of your lungs with immense passion, or simply queued up to vibe out with. We've all been there - thinking we see someone we know out of the corner of our eyes, just to realize our mind is playing tricks on us. White Reaper has turned quite pop in recent years, but this gem keeps their punk sound alive, and I'm here for it.

BAIO - what do you say when i'm not there?

I hadn't heard this man since I was listening to "Sister of Pearl" in 2017 - and boy was I excited to see his name pop up again in my discover weekly! This song is just so ... yes. His voice, the beat, the drive of the storyline, the DRAMA! Everything I wanted in a Baio comeback is right here.

BAD SOUNDS FEAT BROODS - move into me

LADIES & GENTS, BROODS IS ON THE SCENE. Oh my word, Georgia's voice is definitely one of my favorites in the game, and the production on this single track is incredible, complimenting all of her tones. I did get hooked with the keyboard/drum intro before even hearing her voice, so I gotta give big props to Bad Sounds for the mixing and sexy, laid-back rhythm of this song. Bad Sounds is set to release a new EP this upcoming spring; based on this track, I'm expecting great things (and hopefully some more Broods too :P)

BINKI - wiggle

This song is so so so groovy from every angle, period. I vividly remember hearing this in the car for the first time and hardcore dancing in my seat - every piece of the track fits so well together, your body can't help but move to the beat :) I've been watching out for new binki music since his latest release in 2019 - while I hope for more, I'd still be happy as a clam jammin out to his four tracks available on Spotify. Keep doin yr funky thing, dude.

SLOTH FIST - nesterday

This band was actually a fluke find via Instagram, but they've quickly grown to become one of my favorite small-town punk-rock dude groups. This banger is literally about playing Nintendo, which makes it 1000x better to rock out to on full blast. The intro/tempo change always gets me so hyped - go give em a listen asap.

WETTER - who

I think it's safe to say that this is my favorite k-indie group, producing some of the coolest jams that combine both Korean and English lyrics with countless ripping guitar riffs. This track is their very first, and I love the snippet of raw guitar and voices in the first few seconds that quickly morph into the song's rhythm. May 2021 bring Wetter back w/ more...
