Over the past few weeks, I've been receiving ads on Instagram that I am actually interested in. One minute I'm scrolling through my feed, and five minutes later I'm on Safari five pages deep into eyeshadow palettes. While I've bookmarked some of the products that I want to try, I've also tested a few to see if they really live up to the hype. Here are some up-and-coming contemporary beauty brands (that are different from glossier and milk, don't worry) that are taking the spotlight on today's social media platforms (ps: these are not ads - I only wish I could be an influencer for one of these women-run companies! <3)

BILLIE

Okay, I know what you're thinking, and no, this doesn't have any association with Billie Eilish (ha). What it does have, though, is absolutely perfect razors and shaving accoutrements. I had seen this Instagram ad multiple times since late 2019, and I finally caved in to the pretty aesthetic (and anti-pink tax purpose!!) and purchased my first box, which was only nine dollars plus free shipping. The razor is a really pretty coral color, and it comes with two blades and a magnetic holder for the handle (heart eyes). After you purchase your handle bundle, you can choose to receive razor head replacements every 1-3 months. The package also contained samples of their body lotion and shaving cream. I gotta say, that shaving cream is the best thing I've ever put on my legs. It feels like marshmallows! Alright, you now understand my excitement. 10/10 would recommend to EVERYONE!

FRECK

This is actually the brand that prompted me to create this post! I saw their ad last night and decided to take a look at their page. What I found was a minimalist, pretty collection of beauty products. The star of their show is FRECK OG (pictured above) which undoubtedly gives the user cute freckles that can be wiped away with makeup remover. What caught my eye, though, was their product cheekslime. This lip and cheek tint is infused with plant collagen and is a buildable liquid formula. I'm hoping to try cheekslime sometime in the spring when my face isn't so red from the cold! Who knows, maybe I'll snag OG too :)

iNNBEAUTY PROJECT

When I saw this bold, color-pop packaging on insta, I clicked the ad so fast I didn't even have to THINK! Their webpage is a bright flashing spectra of the bundles of products they have (which are currently on sale). I love the originality of all the product names - who ISN'T gonna love the blue lightning bolt eye masks called electrify!? Part of their product selection also contains star nipple covers, which are a super great idea for outfits sans bra. If I decide to buy in the future, I'll most likely grab a kit so I can try at least four of their products all at once!

MISS A

Three words: One. Dollar. Makeup. Miss A has some of the cheapest products of quality that I've ever used! I actually saw this brand in a Tik Tok (don't hate) and I wanted to get some gifts for myself and Sophia for Christmas...ten minutes later and my order was confirmed. The cute packaging that my products came in made me even more excited to open them. I gifted Sophia two face masks (avocado and egg white, respectively) and I bought myself some makeup wipes and a flat eyeshadow brush. Oh, I almost forgot about the cooling under-eye patches; I actually posted a pic of those on the haasetalk insta story :) All in all, Miss A is a great source for affordable, cute, single, mix and match beauty essentials!

SQUISH

As another insta add, squish drew my attention via their Hello Kitty-esque skincare cuteness. Their cherry masks reach the hard-to-hydrate areas of the face, and their squishkits come with a free hair bobble (which I would totally dig if I had hair). The product that I want to try the most has gotta be their flower power acne patches, which are the multi-colored blemish patches shaped like flowers with a little gem center (aw). As someone who struggles constantly with picking at their skin, I often use hydrocolloid patches overnight to cover up open blemishes. Yet these patches are an adorable statement that I could wear in public without feeling embarrassed. All hail normalizing acne!!

Have you tried any of these brands? And if so, did they live up to your expectations? Let me know in the comments! I hope you enjoyed the makeup breakdown (ha) and as always, my DMs are open for blog post suggestions!

Until Next Time,

Anna xxx
